Decom Solar decommissions and recycles 360-kW solar array for Target

Decom Solar:
Decom Solar has successfully completed a 360 kW rooftop solar array installation in Los Angeles, CA for Target Corporation and PowerFlex. The previous system consisted of old Shell Powerlight modules, Xantrax inverters and an integrated PowerGuard flat rack solution. The entire project, including the removal of all system equipment, was completed within three weeks.
PowerFlex, which led the decommissioning program, will add a new system to the roof later this year.
“We are excited to partner with Decom Solar on this project. This partnership brings together our collective experience and shared commitment to environmental responsibility, allowing us to set an example for the solar industry. We look forward to many more successful projects and a long-lasting partnership,” said Lucy Dupas, Chief Shipping Officer, PowerFlex.
Decom Solar teamed up with SOLARCYCLE to recycle the decommissioned system.
“Decom Solar’s commitment to a greener future compliments SOLARCYCLE’s mission to make solar more sustainable,” said SOLARCYCLE Chief Commercial Officer Jesse Simons. “Commercial shops not only have huge potential to generate renewable energy, but can also help our country build a circular solar economy through recycling commitments. We look forward to future projects with the Decom team and partners.”
All project modules are transported to SOLARCYCLE’s advanced processing facility in Odessa, Texas, where the panels are processed, recycled and reintegrated into the supply chain.
To further its commitment to the planet, Decom Solar has partnered with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation. For this project, Decom Solar donated 4,795 trees to be planted on behalf of PowerFlex and Target.
