Enphase begins US inverter manufacturing with contract partner

On July 6, Enphase announced its first contract manufacturing partnership to build US microinverters with Flex in West Columbia, South Carolina. The state’s manufacturing plans are the result of the Inflation Reduction Act’s incentives for American-made solar components.

Enphase uses contract manufacturers around the world to serve various markets, and Flex’s Mexico manufacturing facility still makes all of its North American inverters. Flex’s South Carolina plant will initially manufacture Enphase’s new IQ8 microinverters for the US market.

The Flex plant is one of three U.S. manufacturing facilities slated to open in 2023 for Enphase. When all operations are operational, Enphase expects 4.8 to 7.2-GW of capacityAC: US microinverters per year.
