Green Mountain Power taps LS Energy Solutions for peak shaving batteries

Utility-scale energy project installer Strata Clean Energy has completed the installation of an AiON-ESS Energy Series system from LS Energy Solutions for Green Mountain Power in Vermont, the first commercial deployment of the product.
The project with Strata and GMP includes a total of 12 AiON-ESS enclosures split between two 4.99-MW/10-MWh projects in Vermont. Each UL 9540 certified AiON-ESS unit has an output of 830 kW/2.2 MWh.
“We are pleased to announce the first commercial installation of the AiON-ESS Energy Series,” said Steve Fluder, CEO of LS Energy Solutions. “The deployment with Strata Clean Energy and Green Mountain Power demonstrates how AiON-ESS enables maximum savings for asset owners and utilities, benefiting GMP’s customers. We are delighted to be working with fellow clean energy partners Strata and GMP, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”
“The AiON-ESS Energy Series is a great addition to our battery storage portfolio,” said Joshua Rogol, president of Strata Clean Energy. “Having an energy storage system that includes all components packaged into a single container system benefits developers and utilities looking for a simple way to store energy. With units supplied by LS Energy Solutions, we can help Green Mountain Power meet its clean energy goals and build a smarter grid.”
While the Vermont projects mark the first deployment of the AiON-ESS Energy Series, the system’s companion unit, the Power Series, is currently deployed in New Jersey and Maryland. While the AiON-ESS Power Series is designed for one hour of storage in a 1-MW/1-MWh unit, the Energy Series offers two to six hours of storage in units scaled up to 3 MWh. Both units in the AiON-ESS family are designed and assembled in the United States and provide scalable AC power storage solutions that integrate batteries from Tier 1 suppliers, LS-ES modular string inverters and on-demand cooling into a single containerized unit.
