Powin ESS to be manufactured in USA through Florida partner

Energy storage platform provider Powin has selected Jabil, a global manufacturing solutions provider based in St. Petersburg, Florida, to better serve Powin’s expanding US customer and project base. Jabil will leverage its energy engineering expertise, global manufacturing footprint and supply chain insights to accelerate the development and delivery of Powin’s Stack750 Energy and Collection segments.
Starting in the fourth quarter of 2023, Jabil is expected to produce an initial annual capacity of 2 GWh of Powin systems, with capacity up to 4 GWh per year.
“Jabil’s flexible business model enables Powin to scale quickly and efficiently in a high-growth industry,” said Stuart Bolland, Powin’s Chief Operating Officer. “Our partnership with Jabil not only reflects our promise of safety and operational excellence, but more importantly our commitment to building a domestic energy storage supply chain.”
Powin chose Jabil because of the company’s combination of advanced assembly techniques, deep energy storage expertise, and environmental health, social equity and sustainable practices.
“Jabil is pleased to support Powin’s rapid growth trajectory as a leader in transforming the aging electrical grid across the country,” said Bill Mitchell, senior business director, Jabil Power & Storage. “Both organizations share a commitment to sustainability, and we want to leverage our expertise and capabilities to help raise the bar of excellence in energy storage by bringing fully integrated battery storage systems to market with speed and agility.”
This important partnership will not only reduce supply chain risk by increasing the ability to directly serve the US market, but will also assist Powin’s customers in meeting the domestic content requirements currently imposed by the recent Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Powin manufactures lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries and related products.
