Nine solar canopies containing more than 1,500 Texas-made solar panels will be built into the parking lot, providing enough electricity to offset 25% of the facility’s energy consumption.

“We are pleased to be one of the first Safran sites in the US to install solar panels at our facility. Reducing the carbon footprint is a key goal for Safran and this project brings Safran Helicopter Engines closer to achieving our goal of a 30% CO2 reduction.2: emissions by 2025,” said Thierry Derrien, president and CEO of Safran Helicopter Engines USA.

663 kWDC: The project is expected to generate approximately 989,689 kWh annually using the capacity of 1,542 solar panels.

“We are proud to work with Safran to support their low carbon goals. We also love that they chose solar carports, which provide the added benefit of providing employees with covered parking and protecting the vehicles from the hot Texas sun,” said Robert Miggins, CEO of Big Sun Solar.

The Safran Helicopter Engines USA solar project is expected to be completed and commissioned in September 2023.
